The United States Forest Service has announced the line of duty death of one of their own. USFS Firefighter Michael Hallenbeck, 21, from Shingle Springs, died late Saturday, August 8, 2015 after being struck by a tree during initial attack on the Sierra Fire near Lake Tahoe.

Fremont Firefighters Local 1689 is saddened to announce the passing of Deputy Chief Jim Martin on July 24th. Martin, who served several terms as Local 1689 president during his 30 year career, lost a valiant four-year battle with job-related cancer.

 Roseville Firefighters Local 1592 is saddened to announce the passing of Roseville Fire Captain Tom Chimenti (ret.), who died Saturday at the age of 54 after a courageous battle with job-related cancer. 

At least five people, including three Ventura Co. firefighters, were hospitalized after an early-morning vacuum truck explosion and fire Thursday in Santa Paula. Residents within a mile of the explosion site were evacuated, as the fire continued to burn in the afternoon.
