CPF President Brian Rice on President's Visit to California Wildfires

President Donald Trump announced Thursday that he plans to come to California to meet with those affected by the devastating wildfires. California Professional Firefighters President Brian K. Rice says the president's visit is welcome.

"We welcome the president’s visit to California to meet with those impacted by the wildfires and appreciate what he’s done to expedite aid to the victims of this human tragedy."

As of Thursday evening, the Camp Fire near Chico had taken the lives of 56 people, with as many as 300 more missing. The fire has consumed 140,000 acres, and was 40 percent contained. More than 4,000 firefighters are battling the blaze, the deadliest and most destructive in California history.

Also still burning as of Thursday was the Woolsey Fire, which had consumed nearly 100,000 acres. It is nearly 2/3 contained.
