CPF Govt. Advocate Named to Statewide Worker Safety Commission
California Professional Firefighters is proud to announce that CPF Government Advocate Christy Bouma has been appointed to the Commission on Health and Safety and Workers’ Compensation (CHSWC).
Ms. Bouma has been CPF's governmental advocate for nearly a decade. In that role, Christy has worked to help secure passage of landmark firefighter legislation, including expanded protections for firefighter families under California's cancer presumption laws and the Firefighters Bill of Rights.
Ms. Bouma’s also serves as a member of the CompScope Advisory Committee of the Workers Compensation Research Institute, a member of the CalPERS Contracting Agency Benefits Advisory Panel and the CalPERS Task Force on Compensation, Risk Pooling and Reciprocity.
Created in 1993, CHSWC is a joint labor-management body established by workers' compensation reform legislation that oversees the health and safety and workers' compensation systems in California, and concurrently recommends administrative and/or legislative modifications to improve operations.
